Chicago | AI Visual Identity for a Psytrance Legend
Scroll to exploreOverview
Chicago (David Christman) was one of the pioneers of the psychedelic trance movement and a founding member of the legendary group 1200 Micrograms, alongside Raja Ram. His music helped shape the global Goa and psytrance scene for decades.
When Room Service invited Chicago to become the resident DJ for their monthly Waterfall events in Koh Phangan, they wanted more than promotional artwork. They wanted every event to feel like a new chapter in an ongoing visual journey inspired by his music, personality and psychedelic universe.
Over a year and a half, I developed a series of original AI-driven visual campaigns that accompanied his performances, transforming each event into its own unique visual story.

The challenge
Build a recognizable visual identity for Chicago despite the limited availability of professional photography.
To maintain consistency while allowing endless creative possibilities, I trained a custom AI LoRA model that became the foundation for an evolving series of original visual narratives.
From surreal AI-generated portraits to fantasy worlds inspired by the Waterfall venue — each Room Service campaign became its own visual chapter in Chicago's ongoing story.
Motion & story
Every campaign extended into motion — teaser reels and edits built from the same AI-driven visual language, one film per event.
Sixteen worlds
Each monthly event opened with its own poster — a new AI-generated world built around Chicago's portrait and the spirit of that night.
A tribute to Chicago
The visual identity grew beyond event promotion. Chicago adopted the AI portraits as his own social media profile images, and after his passing, members of the global psytrance community continued using them in memorial posts and tributes.
